Regular vacuuming is one of the most effective (and cost-effective) ways of removing dirt from your carpeting. The truth is that you can get most of the dirt out of your carpet by just vacuuming it daily. Wet dirt from the day will dry out and can be vacuumed away.
Use Mats Where Needed
In especially high-traffic areas, use mats. Good mats will help to remove most of the dirt from the soles of shoes before they track it onto the carpet. And it’s very simple to clean your mats—many of them can just be hosed off outside and laid flat to dry.
Preventive Maintenance Program
No matter how much you vacuum, and how many mats you have, eventually your carpeting will need to be cleaned. Unscheduled downtime to keep your carpet clean can ruin your bottom line. Having a plan in place for consistent spot cleaning and deep cleaning is essential.
Taking proper care of your carpeting is a necessity. Always check the instructions regarding your specific carpeting because some carpeting—wool—for example, might require something different. Depending on your foot traffic, you might want to do this as often as once a month. For moderate foot traffic, plan to have your carpet cleaned at least once or twice a year.
