Before we talk about selecting the best flooring on a GSA Contract, let’s define a few terms here.

GSA Schedules are also called Multiple Award Schedules (MAS) and Federal Supply Schedules (FSS), and GSA stands for General Services Administration—which is a branch of the federal government in the US.

The GSA was established under President Truman in 1949 for the purpose of making available volume discount pricing of high-quality products for government agencies, and a few other categories.

If you are eligible to buy from a GSA schedule, it’s like being part of an exclusive club that has access to the best products at the best prices.

Eagle Mat & Floor Products is a registered “seller” under GSA Schedule 72—Furnishings and Floor Coverings. That means if you have GSA contracts available to you, then we can help you fulfill those flooring contracts.

So, then how do you select the best flooring on a GSA contract?

The schedule 72 offerings are strictly a list of specific products. If you already know what you want, then you can choose anything from the list, and you know that the products have already been vetted for quality.

You will want to ask which floor coverings are NSF-140 compliant, meaning that they have a third-party certification and approval for sustainability and green qualities.

However, the Schedule 72 list doesn’t discuss whether you’re better off with roll carpet or carpet tiles or luxury vinyl tile (LVT) for your specific application. It’s just a list.
